Exploring the Red Talk Experience: Highlights from Maui 2025

ree

Maui holds a pulse unlike any other place I’ve ever been. It’s a deep, ancient heartbeat—one that echoes through the waves, the volcanic rock, and the whispering winds. When we set out on The Red Talk Maui Edition, I knew it would be special, but I didn’t expect the profound transformation that awaited us.

From the moment we arrived, the land seemed to embrace us. The ocean, with its vast, endless movement, felt like a mirror to the rhythms of our own bodies—our cycles, our emotions, our flow. We gathered in sacred circle, women from different walks of life, yet all carrying a shared knowing, a deep call to reconnect with our wombs, our ancestors, and ourselves.

Each morning began with offerings to the land. We walked barefoot on the warm earth, allowing our feet to remember what it means to be held. The elements spoke to us—water cleansing, fire igniting, air whispering truths, and earth grounding us in our power. In the presence of Maui’s raw beauty, we shed layers of conditioning, of shame, of forgetting. We reclaimed our sacredness.

Hawaiian wisdom intertwined beautifully with the womb work we explored. The concept of Aloha—more than a greeting, a way of being—taught us about deep presence, love, and connection. We learned to listen, really listen, to the language of our bodies. We honored our menstrual cycles as sacred, rather than something to be hidden away. We danced under the moon, embodying the phases of creation and release.

During our time in Maui, we attended the Woman's March at the Maui College and had an opportunity to interact with some locals, exchanging wisdom and stories. It was a powerful experience to stand in solidarity with the community and witness the shared commitment to women's empowerment.

We also offered a free Menstrual Cycle workshop to the community, where the Maui Midwifery generously provided their space free of charge. It was so rewarding to see how well the information was received, and to witness the genuine curiosity and appreciation from those who attended.

Deby had an opportunity to gift one of the birth workers as a token of gratitude with a ceremonial postpartum bodywork session. This heartfelt exchange was a beautiful way to honor the local healers who have dedicated their lives to supporting birthing women.

Shanti ran the Maui half marathon to raise awareness on Cyclical Living, embodying the strength and resilience of the feminine. Her dedication and energy were truly inspiring, showing how movement can be a powerful tool for spreading awareness and connecting with our cyclical nature.

Sisterhood was the unexpected gift that wove everything together. In the vulnerability of sharing our stories, we found reflection, validation, and strength. We saw pieces of ourselves in one another, and in that, we healed.

Leaving Maui felt like leaving a temple, but the truth is—the temple is within us. The sacred work we did didn’t stay on the island; it traveled home in our bones, our breath, our being. The Red Talk was never just about one moment, one place. It was about remembrance, about bringing the wisdom home, about continuing to weave the feminine thread of healing into our daily lives.

Maui, mahalo. You cracked us open, and in the breaking, we found ourselves whole again.
